It's that time of the year again. Pull out the tartan rug, stock-up the picnic basket and hot-foot it to your city's grassy knoll of choice for your annual spot of short film feasting.

The Tropfest 2008 Finalists have just been announced and there's no shortage of local and international talent set to grace our outdoor screens this year.

2008 sees the world's largest short film festival celebrate it's 16th birthday with the lucky number '8'. The crew at Tropfest once again asked filmmakers of all backgrounds and levels of experience to get out there and shoot a short film about their subject of choice which includes the annual Tropfest Signature Item (TSI). This year that happens to be '8'.Over 150,000 people will come together on Sunday 17th February 2008 to view 16 finalist films, selected from more than 700 entries at venues in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra and Hobart as well as a selection of regional venues across Australia.
