Title:  Danny Bhoy Live at the Sydney Opera House
Genre:  Comedy Stand Up

After a successful six month tour of Australia, Danny Bhoy marked the end of his tour with a performance at the Sydney Opera House.

Now touted as one of the world’s most popular stand up comedians, Danny Bhoy, of East Indian Scottish stock, delivers a truly memorable show where he exhibits gracefully just why it is that he is so damn popular.

The DVD features backstage footage, gala spots from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Sydney Cracker Comedy Festival, an image gallery and run down of his favourite personal TV performances.

He seems to seamlessly move through his routine, engaging his audience with his hilarious take on anything from an Italian lover to frustrated corn fed chickens. He has a unique ability to jump from story to story and it is clear that his improvisational skills are part of what make him so special.

Danny Bhoy managed to do what all good comics do: make comments on the world he sees around him by inserting his social/political viewpoint of what he observes in such a clever way that it can be digested with humour and an open mind.

His ability to poke fun at elements of Australian culture to a room full of Australian’s, without causing anything but raucous laughter is legendary.  Anyone who hasn’t heard his take on the outback Aussie accent should see this DVD for that if nothing else.

Definitely the kind of guy your mum would approve of (despite his firm grasp of the ‘F’ word… yep one of those ‘my mum just loves him’ guys), this is a DVD you can watch over and over again. His anecdotes of childhood moments and life experiences we can all relate to are as endearing as they are humorous.  It is easy to see why his shows are packed out every year at The Melbourne festival gigs.

With a similar eccentricity to the late Spike Milligan, Danny Bhoy displays an uncanny knack for impersonations and the show leaves you wanting more, which is all a comic can really hope for in the end.

Danny Bhoy Live at the Sydney Opera House is out now through Madman films.
