Paul Smith is known for his roots in traditional British tailoring with a quirky twist of individuality that makes for superiority hard to master in today's fashion climate.

For his Spring Summer 08' spectacle collection, Sir Paul has taken inspiration from very British artists the Bloomsbery set and David Hockney who summed up the creative individualism of British Bohemia, and has reinvented a very unexpected shape of frame.... the round frame.

While the last few years has seen a procession of the sometimes ridiculous looking oversized frames, and the stale and overdone rectangular shape, it is refreshing to see a designer take a gamble and advocate for a return to the classic round and semi-round frame.

The Harry Potter-esque spectacles are made out of super thick chunky plastic, and come in bold jewel-toned colours with retro pin detailing. While the round spectacle may not be suitable for every face shape, there are also a plethora of choices in the original Paul Smith collection inspired by 1960's and 70's London.
