Over the last few years Sydney has been giving “the fashion capital” a run for its money in the fashion stakes.
A lot of Australia’s most successful denim brands including Ksubi and Sass&Bide have emerged from the harbor city and have been spreading their wares around the globe. Maise is the latest denim line poised to make its mark on the international fashion scene.
Brainchild of ex-Top Shop designer Claire Greaves, Maise is predominantly a womenswear denim label. In a fashion market saturated by denim, Maise stands out with its “comfortable cuts and quirky details – that allow each wearer to mold each piece to suit their own style,” according to the Aussie designer.

Maise is fast developing a worldwide reputation. Her summer 07-08 collection reflects a cool and casual look with a bit of a twist. The pieces work for both daytime ease and night glamour. Jeans are all cut with a higher waist and fit snugly to flatter the body. Dresses and shorts are flirty and feminine with a hint of vintage sheik.
TIP: For the Summer 07/08 range the high-waisted 'History Jean' is proving to be the style of choice. These hit stores in September and are already proving to be the label’s biggest seller.
