In May 2003 Kit Willow wowed Sydney crowds with a debut catwalk show of her unique lingerie range. Clad in seamed stockings, garters, camisoles, chiffon dresses, french knickers and bras that brought a new meaning to sexy - Willow’s vamped-up models strutted their stuff to a chorus of “oohs” and “aahs” from the fashion and media audience. The end result? Kit Willow’s internationally renowned fashion label was born.
The Melbourne-based designer notched up nine years in fashion PR and marketing before making the switch to design.
She created her first collection with her London-based cousin Sophie Roet, a textile designer and colour stylist who has worked alongside such fashion luminaries as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan.
From there, Kit Willow developed the range, adding her own unique spin by introducing outerwear in luxurious textures that vary from delicate silks to traditional tweeds and metallic weaves.
The charm of WILLOW is not just in its beautiful fabrics or softly draped shapes, or even in its use of unconventional colours and earthy embellishment. It’s in the way the look can be put together in an effortless layering of one precious, romantic piece on top of another. Plus, she managed to blur the lines between day and night dressing, creating a look that appeals to a woman who likes her clothes on the softer side. The collections are filled with timeless pieces that reinforce a free-spirited and irreverent mood.
Today, the WILLOW label has evolved into a high-end collection distributed in major boutiques and department stores both in Australia, London, New York, Los Angeles and Dubai, with a customer base which includes the likes of Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Kate Bosworth, Cate Blanchett, Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson.
The WILLOW label is available in over 80 major boutiques and department stores throughout USA, UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.
