Every December, just after the Christmas rush, the Woodford Folk Festival returns with a line-up that seems to get bigger and better with every passing year.
The event, which has become something of an institution for many of its loyal patrons, is spread over 320 acres of Queensland bush, and attracts more than 130,000 people over 6 days of glorious music in sublime surrounds.
This year looks like being an absolute corker, with internationals such as Hawksley Workman (Canada), TeTe (France), Nano Stern (Chile), The Kin (USA) and Moshav (Isreal) booked to help see in your 2008.
From the local music scene you can expect some fine performances courtesy of the Cat Empire, Angus and Julia Stone, The Waifs, Sarah Blasko, TZU, Urthboy, Blue King Brown, James Morrison and Archie Roach, but that really is just the tip of the iceberg (click here for the full schedule).
There are over 2000 performers and 400 events in total, including concerts, dances, workshops, forums, street theatre, writers’ panels, film festivals, comedy sessions, acoustic jams, social dialogue and debate, an entire children’s festival, art and craft workshops, late night cabarets and special events including a spectacular fire display.
