Dining out in Australia can be a very satisfying experience. In the last 20 years or so, our multicultural society has absorbed dishes and traditions from around the world and now challenges the best in the business for gastronomic recognition.
And as our newly sophisticated restaurant industry develops, we have seen a plethora of dining guides sprouting up in newspapers and magazine supplements, on radio and TV and more recently online.
But if you read these reviews you could be forgiven for thinking going for a spot of lunch has all got a bit complicated. It’s all ‘flageolet’ this and ‘gingembre’ that, with the descriptions attached to most meals ending up more vague than an American hotel heiress.
So here’s one that caught our eye at the Scene HQ. Chiplist.com has been established by a couple of Aussie junk food connoisseurs, with the sole purpose of finding the best hot chip in town.
You won’t be expected to speak a foreign language to access the results and the restaurant doesn’t lose 2 points for providing paper serviettes (sorry Herald Sun).
It’s all about the chips.
