Melbourne drinkers are a spoilt bunch. With venue numbers now averaging around 15 bars to every man, woman and child in town, developers of new outlets need to have something a bit special going on if they expect to capture the imagination of the savvy city slickers.

One place that sprung up last year without fanfare, but with a well considered business plan is The Order of Melbourne. Occupying the second floor of one of our fine city’s coolest warehouse buildings, OOM offers a glimpse of bar life in the late 1800s.

Eight metre high ceilings, a stunning rooftop vista and one of the best stocked bars this side of Puff daddy’s house will make you want to stay, and the regular Sunday Burlesque Review will make you want to move in.

As you would expect, Fridays and Saturday are the key nights, with folks from all corners of Melbourne converging on the venue for drinks and delicious bar food. It’s a fairly mixed bag of patrons who appreciate the Order’s desire to be “stylish, understated and egalitarian”, and the music policy follows a similarly eclectic path.

Summary: A typically Melbourne venue for those who like the good things in life.
