If you’re still reeling from last month’s launch of Google Map Street View, you better steady yourself for before reading on.

Microsoft Live Labs has just unveiled the beta for some groundbreaking new software called Photosynth.

Basically, the software takes a large collection of photos of a place or an object, analyses them for similarities and reconstructs them in a three-dimensional space. It does this using all photo related data on the internet, and will in time, be able to reconstruct an entire 3D image of the earth by creating hyperlinks between related images.
