Although it’s a touch on the cool side for us up here, the Sunshine Coast is a great winter holiday destinations for southerners throughout July-August.
Cheap fares are available through Jetstar and Virgin, and the trusty old Backpacker Hostel is the place to stay for mixing with other adventurers on a cheaper budget. There are also more luxurious hotel deals with all the trimmings for the cashed up travelers out there. Or, travel with a few friends and rent a Noosa hinterland cottage.
People come from all over the world to enjoy the beauty of the Sunshine Coast. After all, it is home to an endless list of attractions, including: the Glass House Mountains, the famous surf beaches of Mooloolaba and Noosa, the Noosa National Park, the Noosa Hinterland, the Maleny Montville mountain drive, Fraser Island, nightclubs, fine wining and dining, and friendly locals.

Or, you can go nightclubbing with the young locals at "Friday’s" on Mooloolaba wharf, the "Tavern Buderim" on Thursday night (beware, it’s uni night), the "Rolling Rock" Noosa, and various pubs and clubs. Just find the local musos guide or look online for local events. The Sunshine Coast has historically attracted artists and musicians of many hues …so there is a lot on offer.
Take in the famous Eumundi markets full of art, fine foods, clothes and much more - every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.
You can also visit Underwater World at Mooloolaba, Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo near Caloundra, the Valley Rattler steam train ride to name just some of the attractions. The Sunshine Coast is not that far from the theme parks – Movie World, Dream World, Sea World as well. Car hire is reasonable too and will give you the flexibility to get around. Watch the roundabouts. Give way to the right and get into the inside lane if you are traveling around…we can pick the southerners by the way they negotiate the roundabouts.
