After much speculation, Silverchair’s Daniel Johns has split from his wife of four years, Natalie Imbruglia.

The couple wed on New Year’s Eve 2004 after a brief but intense romance, in Port Douglas, Far North Queensland.

Since then they have spent most of their time apart, with Imbruglia living in London and Johns committed to his career in Australia.

Despite looking very much together during Silverchair’s recent tour of Oz with Powderfinger, the couple has struggled with distance and has grown apart over the last 12 months.

Imbruglia was conspicuous by her absence in Johns’ acceptance speech at the ARIAs, with the bohemian songwriter preferring to credit Paul Mac for his return to form.

Both parties have laughed off gay rumours directed at Johns, saying he is very much into straight lines, thanks for asking.
