Has there ever been a more successful artist to spawn so many self-indulgent radio hits as one Miss Fergalicious?

Three of her singles: “London Bridge”, “Fergalicious”, and “Glamorous” from her debut solo release The Dutchess have one major factor in common – no sign of modesty. She thinks she’s got, so she’s going to flaunt it. “All That I Got (The Make Up Song)” continues with this fascination with her own lifestyle. “Would you love me if I didn’t work-out or I didn’t change my natural hair?” she sings.

Clumsy” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry” were also big hits for Fergie (Stacy Ferguson) and I confess to be one of many hooked on the soppy ballad in which she does show some emotional vulnerability.

Although it was played to death on radio, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” remains the gem on the record. Instead of trying to be gangster with her raps or sounding sleazy and some-what possessed on tracks such as “Pedestal”, Fergie just sings and her vocals do the lyrics justice.  Similarly “Finally” is a pleasant listen where she delivers another fine vocal performance.

While “Glamorous” has a sensitive groove that is enjoyable to listen to, a G.L.A.M.O.R.O.U.S hook is pretty basic to state the obvious. And there’s only so many times you can listen to an artist sing about their high-profiled lives yet claim to be “keeping it real”. Start singing about things that are real to more people, then I may just believe you.

Summing up, there are more tracks I would skip than keep.
