If folk could ever be described as epic, Lamplights recently released single “A Sun That Will Not Rise” could be the missing link between a layered orchestral symphony and some hobo with dreadlocks sitting in a tepee playing a two string box guitar.

That said, vocalist Mijo Biscan has a vocal delivery rightfully deserving the comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Glenn Richards (Augie March). The single gives the listener the expectation that live, the band would be able to straddle genres, cutting it right back to just vocals and guitar and then knocking people off their feet with a heaving rock punch to the gut.

It’s always a fine line between bringing influences to a new band and appropriating another bands “sound”, but Lamplight are cutting a new path for themselves, which is in no way narrow, but is rambling with twists and turns that add to the enjoyment of the musical journey.
