Born out of the surprising surrounds of Los Angeles, young vegan experimental punk rocking duo No Age have turned out an ambitious release, steeped in art credibility and optimism.

To have such a community-rich art collective come out of a city famous for its vacuous fame and celebrity-driven lifestyle, is as oddly comforting as it is inspiring.

While bearing vague comparisons to the likes of Sonic Youth and Pavement, the album still gives the listener the feeling they have discovered something new. Mojo magazine have named them as one of the top ten bands to watch in 2008.

Picking up adeptly from their previous and more experimental release of Weirdo Rippers, this album still retains the rawness and energy that that EP series was abundant in, but does so with a more directed structure and increased songwriting ability. One minute all effects and sludgy guitars, then the ante is upped with banging drums and power chords. All of the songs move along at a rapid, yet measured pace.

'Eraser' is the leading single, which arguably showcases the bands DIY energy best, firmly reminding us why they will keep reaping critical acclaim. 'Things I Did When I was Dead' is another fine distortion-drenched reason, beside the bonus hand-made souvenir booklet, to hand over your hard-earned.
