Straight off the back of the Sex and the City movie comes the Sex and the City soundtrack.
Released through Universal, it contains 15 tracks that producer Salaam Remi (NAS, Fugees, Amy Winehouse) selected for the show’s well publicized transition from TV to the big screen.
And he’s done a pretty good job.
Crowd pleasers such as Fergie and Jem are offset against more interesting inclusions, such as Al Green and Joss Stone’s take on How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and a sublime version of How Deep is Your Love from The Bird and the Bee.
India Arie adds The Heart of the Matter, Mairi Campbell gets sentimental with Auld Lang Syne and there’s even enough room for a bit of Walk This Way from Aerosmith.
All in all it’s pretty eclectic and at times feels quite disjointed. But mix tapes work best with bit of variety, so the hoards of fans who would love to be Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda are gonna dig it, for sure.
