The guys from The Getaway Plan must be feeling quite pleased at the moment.

Having caused a stir with their debut EP Hold Conversation, the band’s latest offering is a full length affair and it's currently selling like those proverbial hotcakes.

That’s partly to do with the kudos TGP have scored by touring extensively alongside such rock n roll notables as The Used, My Chemical Romance and more recently Milencolin, but it’s also because Other Voices, Other Rooms is an accomplished album of well crafted songs.

The two singles so far (Streetlight and Where the City Meets the Sea) are the stand out tracks, displaying a greater maturity than the band’s ages would suggest. But there are plenty of other tasty moments to give the album flavor, including Shadows and Red Flag, which both promise to be highlights at future live shows.

There are a couple of down moments (the melancholy ballad New Medicine seems odd coming from a group of kids with everything to smile about), but overall Other Voices, Other Rooms bodes well for the new stars of the Australian rock scene.

In the last 2 years these four guys from around the bay have positioned themselves perfectly, making the most of their uber cool image as well as obvious musical talent. They have a legion of screaming fans, energy to burn and enough boyish good looks to take them all the way to the top.

Let’s just hope we see plenty of TGP before a real getaway plan is organized and they piss off overseas.
