Scientists in the UK have declared that 1 in 4 people has too many taste buds for their own good, leading to obesity and colon cancer in later life.

The theory claims that those with the extra buds have a heightened sense of taste, enjoy flavours more than the rest of us and inevitably choose less healthy and nutritious food options for tea.

The study also suggests that children who are fussy with their food may have taste bud overload and should be trained to appreciate a balanced diet.
